SMS Terms

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Version: 1.2

These SMS Terms govern the Stowlog Account Verification text messaging program operated by Estudio Cactus Media S.L., trading as Stowlog. They apply to every person who provides a mobile number to Stowlog for identity verification. They are written to be read on their own: everything you need to know about the program is set out on this page.

Program name and operator

The name of this text messaging program is Stowlog Account Verification. It is operated by Estudio Cactus Media S.L., trading as Stowlog, a company incorporated in Spain with tax identification number (CIF) B12962957 and registered address at Rda. Circunvalación 188, 12003, Castellón de la Plana, Spain.

Messages are sent to recipients in the United States and internationally. Messages sent to United States numbers originate from a Stowlog 10DLC long code registered to Estudio Cactus Media S.L. Messages sent to numbers outside the United States may originate from a long code or from an alphanumeric sender identified as Stowlog.

What this program sends

Stowlog Account Verification sends one type of message and one type only: a one-time security code used to verify your identity when you sign in to a Stowlog account, when you register a mobile number, or when you carry out an action that requires you to authenticate again. Each message contains the Stowlog name, a numeric code and the time at which the code expires.

This program sends no other kind of message. Stowlog will never use the mobile number you provide for this program to send you:

A verification message is only ever sent in direct response to an action you have taken. If you do not attempt to sign in or to verify your identity, you receive no messages.

How your mobile number reaches this program

You provide your own mobile number yourself, inside the Stowlog App, at one of two points: when you create your Stowlog account, or later when you add or verify a mobile number on an existing account. Stowlog obtains your number from no other source. No number is bought, rented, imported from a list, or supplied to us by a third party, and a verification code is only ever sent in response to a request you made yourself.

Your mobile number is collected for identity verification and for nothing else. Depending on how your account is configured, a mobile number may be required to complete registration in the Stowlog App. Where a mobile number is on your account, a one-time sign-in code can be sent either to that number or to the email address on the account. Your acceptance of the consent wording for this program is recorded separately from your acceptance of the Stowlog Terms and Conditions, and consent to receive these messages is not a condition of any purchase.

Your mobile number is used by Estudio Cactus Media S.L. for the Stowlog Account Verification program only. It is not transferable, assignable or shareable, and it is never sold, rented or passed to any other sender, brand or affiliate.

Where you accept the consent wording set out below, Stowlog records that acceptance. The record is held against the mobile number you provided, in international E.164 format, and it states: that consent was granted rather than withdrawn; the version of the wording you were shown; the SHA-256 hash of that exact wording; the language the wording was published in; that it was given by ticking a box on screen (clickwrap) rather than by a handwritten signature; whether it was given while registering an account or while verifying or changing the number on an existing account; the account, or the pre-signup verification, that it relates to; and the date and time of acceptance, taken from Stowlog's own servers at the moment the record is written and never from your device. Where the request carried them, the record also holds the IP address it came from and the user agent and app version your device reported; those three are optional, a record may hold none of them, and the values a device reports are recorded as reported rather than verified. Beyond the record's own identifier, it holds nothing else. A record is written only where the acceptance is submitted together with the request for a code; where a request arrives without one — from an older version of the Stowlog App, for example — the code is still sent and no record is written.

The version of the wording is derived from the wording itself: it is the first twelve hexadecimal characters of the SHA-256 hash of the text, so changing a single character produces a different version. The full hash stored on the record is computed by Stowlog from its own published copy of the wording that the version resolves to, and is not accepted from the device, so a record cannot cite one wording and carry the hash of another. For the same reason, the language on the record is read from that published copy rather than reported by the device. A version Stowlog does not recognise is rejected before any message is sent. Stowlog keeps every version of the wording it has published, so the exact text behind any record can be retrieved, hashed again and compared against it. The record cites the wording; it does not contain a copy of it.

The record belongs to the mobile number rather than to your account: one number can hold several records, and Stowlog adds to that log rather than editing it. Requesting a code again adds no record while the wording you last accepted is unchanged; a new record is written whenever the wording you accept differs from the one your most recent record cites, which happens when the published wording changes and also when you accept it in a different language. The single value ever rewritten on an existing record is the link between it and your account, when an acceptance given before the account existed is attached to the account created from it; the date and time of acceptance, and the wording it was given against, are carried over unchanged, because what matters is when you accepted and not when the account was opened. Stopping the messages does not erase a record of an acceptance you have already given: that record is kept as it stands, and your request to stop is recorded separately and applied before any further message is sent to that number. How to stop the messages is set out below, in the section headed “How to stop receiving messages”.

The consent wording Stowlog publishes

Stowlog publishes one consent wording for this program, in English and in Spanish and in no other language. Each is identified by a version, which is the first twelve hexadecimal characters of the SHA-256 hash of the wording itself. Both are reproduced below, character for character, exactly as Stowlog serves them:

The wording is published by the Stowlog API and can be retrieved by anyone, without a Stowlog account, at https://api.stowlog.com/public/legal/sms/consent. Which of the two is returned depends on the language requested; any language other than Spanish returns the English wording. Because the version is the hash of the wording, the two versions above are the ones acceptances are recorded against today, and any future change to the wording — however small — produces a different version and a new record, leaving the records already written untouched.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies — one message per sign-in or verification request. Messages are sent only when you request one. If you never sign in, you receive no messages. Stowlog sends no recurring or scheduled messages under this program.

Cost

Standard message and data rates may apply. Stowlog does not charge you for these messages, but your mobile carrier may charge you for receiving them under your plan. Check with your carrier if you are unsure. Rates applying to messages received while roaming, or on numbers outside the United States, are set by your carrier and not by Stowlog.

How to stop receiving messages

To stop receiving messages, reply STOP at any time. Send the reply to the number the message came from.

The following keywords are honoured, in upper or lower case, and each stops every message sent under this program: STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, REVOKE. Leading and trailing spaces are ignored. Send the keyword on its own: a reply that carries other words alongside it may not be recognised as an opt-out. If a reply is not acted on, write to support@stowlog.com and we will stop the messages.

After an opt-out keyword is received you get one confirmation message, and nothing after it. That confirmation reads: "Stowlog: You have been unsubscribed and will receive no more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.".

Screenshot of a text message conversation. The message sent reads STOP. The reply received reads: Stowlog: You have been unsubscribed and will receive no more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.
A real handset replying to STOP. The confirmation is sent by our SMS delivery provider on our behalf.

Once your opt-out is recorded, Stowlog sends no further messages to that number under this program. Stowlog checks the opt-out before every message it sends, and our SMS delivery provider enforces it independently.

Opting out does not close your Stowlog account. It stops the verification codes sent to that number under this program; where your account has an email address, a one-time sign-in code can be requested for that address instead.

START, YES, UNSTOP can be used to start receiving codes again after an opt-out. They are not a way to join this program for the first time: a number only enters it when you provide it yourself inside the Stowlog App. Reply any of them to the same number the messages came from.

A resubscribe keyword is confirmed the same way. The reply reads: "Stowlog: You are subscribed to receive one-time verification codes. Msg frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to unsubscribe.".

A real handset replying to START. Resubscribing restores delivery to a number that had opted out; it does not enrol a new number, which only happens inside the Stowlog App.

You can also stop the messages without sending a reply, by writing to support@stowlog.com. If a message reached you from an alphanumeric sender rather than from a phone number, a reply cannot be delivered — use that route instead, and we will stop the messages.

How to get help

For assistance, reply HELP or INFO to the number from which you received the message, or contact us at support@stowlog.com.

Replying HELP or INFO returns: "Stowlog account security: we send one-time passcodes only. Msg frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Support: support@stowlog.com. Reply STOP to opt out.". Keywords are matched regardless of case, so HELP, Help and help all work.

A real handset replying to HELP, sent here in mixed case to show that matching ignores case.

You can also reach us by email at support@stowlog.com, by telephone on +34 964 23 84 12, or by post at Estudio Cactus Media S.L., Rda. Circunvalación 188, 12003, Castellón de la Plana, Spain.

Carriers and delivery

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Delivery depends on your mobile carrier, your device and your network coverage, none of which Stowlog controls. Stowlog cannot guarantee that a message will arrive, or that it will arrive within any particular time. If a verification code does not reach you, use the alternative verification method offered in the Stowlog App rather than requesting repeated codes.

This program is supported on the major carriers in the United States, and on carriers elsewhere where message delivery is available. Carrier support may change without notice, and carriers are not liable for this program.

Eligibility

You may only provide a mobile number that you own or are authorised to use. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use this program. If the number is reassigned to another person, or you stop using it, reply STOP, or write to support@stowlog.com, so that no further messages are sent to it.

Privacy

We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except the communications provider that transmits the messages on our behalf and where disclosure is required by law.

Your mobile number is disclosed only to processors acting on our documented instructions — our hosting and database providers, and Twilio Inc. as our SMS delivery provider — and to your mobile network operator, which necessarily processes the message in order to deliver it. Twilio processes the number and the message content solely in order to deliver the verification code to your device, under a written data processing agreement. Twilio may not use them for its own purposes and may not sell or rent them; it may engage its own sub-processors and route the message through mobile network operators, solely in order to deliver it and under equivalent contractual obligations.

For this program Stowlog collects and uses your mobile number, your mobile carrier and country, the delivery status of each message, and the record of your consent and of any opt-out. That data is used to send and troubleshoot verification codes, to protect your account, and to evidence your consent. It is not used for profiling, advertising or any other commercial purpose.

How Stowlog handles personal data more generally, including the legal basis, the retention periods and your rights under the GDPR, is set out in our Privacy Policy and in particular in its section headed "SMS and Text Message Communications". The Privacy Policy is available at https://www.stowlog.com/legal/privacy.

Sample messages

Messages sent under this program are generated from a single template, and the expiry it states is taken from the code that issued it, so the number of minutes in the message always matches the real expiry. Two purposes exist:

Verification messages never contain a link, never ask you to reply with your code, and never ask for a password, a card number or any other personal detail. If you receive a message that claims to come from Stowlog and does any of those things, do not act on it and report it to support@stowlog.com.

Changes to these terms

Stowlog may update these SMS Terms. The version in force is the one published on this page, and the date at the top of the page states when it was last changed. Material changes to the program are notified through the Stowlog App before they take effect. Continuing to use SMS verification after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

Relationship with our other terms

These SMS Terms are self-contained and govern the text messaging program only. They do not replace the Stowlog Terms and Conditions or the terms of use applying to the Stowlog App. Your acceptance of the consent wording for this program is given and recorded separately from your acceptance of those documents, it covers one-time verification codes and nothing else, and it can be withdrawn at any time by replying STOP.
